The UK has removed Russian entrepreneur Oleg Tinkov from its sanctions list, according to TASS.
Tinkov’s entry has been removed from the list, and he is no longer subject to asset freeze, as per the UK sanctions list.
It was recently revealed that Richard Branson, a British billionaire and founder of Virgin Group, called for the UK to lift sanctions on Oleg Tinkov.
“Whilst he was a wealthy Russian businessman he has never been an oligarch. I have always known him as a self-made dynamic entrepreneur. That is why I have liked and supported him and continue to do so,” The Times quoted Branson as saying.
The UK introduced sanctions against Tinkov in March 2022, later dropping some of those. After this, the family of the Tinkoff Bank founder sold their 35% share in the bank to Vladimir Potanin’s Interrors investment group. Tinko later revealed that he had been forced to sell his share.
Oleg Tinkov renounced his Russian citizenship in October 2022.
