Local authorities: at least four injured in shelling of Russia’s Belgorod region

Four people have been injured in an attack on Russia’s Belgorod region situated near the Ukrainian border, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported.

According to him, several settlements were targeted: Shebekino, Novaya Tavolzhanka, and Kozinka.

Two industrial facilities were struck in Shebekino. In one of them, a shell hit caused a production building with paint liquids to catch fire. It was there that four people were injured. All the injured were men and were hospitalised with respiratory tract burns and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Local Telegram channels published photos of black smoke rising from the town, advising people to shut their windows and stay inside.

Gladkov added that the second targeted facility was not damaged.

Belgorod media outlets report, citing locals, that this is the heaviest shelling of Shebekino in recent times.

Power lines were damaged in the attack on Novaya Tavolzhanka, causing this settlement and two more situated nearby to experience a power outage.

In Kozinka, the shells hit a hotel and a carwash, causing the latter to catch fire.

Reports emerged earlier that one local resident was injured in a missile strike on Kyiv. The Ukrainian capital was hit twice in one day. Overnight, Ukraine’s air-defence systems downed more than 40 drones over Kyiv.
