Prigozhin demands YouTube be banned in Russia and Google LLC declared ‘undesired organisation’

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of PMC Wagner, has addressed Igor Krasnov, Russia’s Prosecutor General, asking him to investigate the activity of Youtube and black it in Russia, Prigozhin’s media office reports.

“An information war started on YouTube during the special military operation, aimed at besmirching Russia’s image in the eyes of the users. Fake news are being disseminated on YouTube, as well as russophobia, calls to depose Russia’s government and other corrosive content,” reads the address.

Prigozhin has also demanded that Google LLC be declared ‘an undesired organisation’ in Russia for “disseminating information aimed at creating a threat to Russia’s defensive capacity and the nation’s security.”

Google banned the YouTube channels of Russia’s Federation Council, the upper chamber of the parliament, a week ago. In August, Google banned the YouTube channel of Rostec, a state-owned defensive conglomerate, due to sanctions. Rostec announced that it was ready for the ban, transferring all its videos to RuTube, the Russian clone of YouTube.
