The print edition is published in two languages, Latvian and Russian.

“Novaya Gazeta has always been an idea. An idea of publishing journalist investigations in Russian, even though they go against what the government, and even the public at times, want to hear. This is what happened during both Chechen wars, when Novaya Gazeta carried on publishing articles no matter what. The war in Ukraine put an end to the work of Novaya Gazeta in Russia. But the idea must live on. We are bringing this idea to life by rolling out our first print issue of Novaya Gazeta. Europe, timed to May 9,” Novaya Gazeta. Europe Editor-in-Chief Kirill Martynov says.

According to Martynov, so far, this is a one-off special print edition timed to Victory Day. “If our readers like what we do, and if they support us, we will consider publishing a weekly print edition of Novaya Gazeta. Europe. I would like to thank our partners from the Rigas Vilni publishing house. We wouldn’t have been able to do this without their help,” he added.

The special edition will debut on newsstands in Latvia and Estonia tomorrow. A PDF version will be available for download on our website later.
