Russian anti-war activist Dmitry Ivanov sentenced to 8.5 years in prison for ‘fakes’ about Russian army

A Moscow court has jailed Russian anti-war activist and administrator of Protest MSU (Moscow State University) Telegram channel Dmitry Ivanov for 8.5 years in a regular-security prison for publishing “fakes” about the Russian army, Mediazona reports.

The state prosecution demanded 9 years of imprisonment for Ivanov.

Ivanov was found guilty of deliberately disseminating false information about the Russian Armed Forces. He was arrested in June 2022. The investigation team branded reports about murders of civilians, destruction of Ukraine’s civil infrastructure, and the refusal to describe war as a “special military operation” as “fakes”.
