Police charge Russian playwright Mikhail Durnenkov and theatre critic Marina Davydova with ‘discrediting’ Russian army

Moscow police likely filed administrative charges against playwright Mikhail Durnenkov and theatre critic Marina Davydova for “discrediting” the Russian army, court documents suggest.

Russian digital rights watchdog Roskomsvoboda pointed out that the court documents mention a Davydova M. and a Durnenkov M. Based on this and the news reports for this year, the project’s activists suggested that the protocols had been filed against the Russian theatre critic and playwright.

Durnenkov and Davydova spoke out against the actions of the Russian government following the start of the war in Ukraine. Both have left Russia by now.
