Hacker attack reported on Russia’s Ministry of Construction website
The website of the Russian Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities was attacked by hackers on 5 June. A message saying that the website was hacked by the team of DumpForums.com appeared on its main page.
“The entire database was exported and it might appear on our forum soon,” the message reads.
The hackers demanded the ministry to pay them 0.5 BTC by 7 June, otherwise “all personal data of the users of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation, and maybe even something more ;) will be shared publicly.”
Mediazona news outlet points out that the name of the ministry’s website showed up on Google as “Glory to Ukraine!”
Soon after that, the website published a message saying that maintenance works were underway. The ministry stated that the personal data of its users is safe.
As of 7:50 a.m. on 6 June, the website was working normally. Earlier, Russia’s RuTube video hosting was attacked by hackers. It took the RuTube team over two days to recover access to the website.
A source of the Village news outlet within the RuTube team said that “the website code was fully deleted.” The company dismissed this information as false. RuTube was up and running two days later.
