Governor of Russia’s Kursk region reports attack on settlement near Ukrainian border

Tyotkino, a Russian settlement near the Ukrainian border, was shelled this morning, Governor of Russia’s Kursk Region Roman Starovoyt reported on his Telegram channel.

A bridge and local enterprises were targeted in the attack, he wrote. No casualties or injuries were reported, he added.

“A local bridge was the main target, there is damage. A two-storey building with 8 flats, as well as annex buildings located nearby suffered major damage,” Starovoyt said.

According to the governor, the roof of the house was destroyed, the windows were shattered, and a car parked near the building burned down. A local sugar factory was also damaged in the attack, the head of the Kursk region stated.

Border settlements in Russia’s Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions have regularly come under attack since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On 27 May, a resident of the border settlement of Zhuravlyovka in the Belgorod region died after she was injured in an attack on the area. On 19 May, a local resident was killed in the attack on the Tyotkino settlement in the Kursk region. On 11 May, the settlement of Solokhi in Russia’s Belgorod region came under attack. One person was killed and seven were injured.

On 30 May, Starovoyt stated that the Russian Defence Ministry deployed additional forces and military equipment to the Kursk region to ensure security “considering the situation in the districts bordering Ukraine.”
