Estonia alleges fire at Tallinn robotics plant was Russian arson attack
Estonia says a fire at the offices of defence firm Milrem Robotics was an act of arson ordered by Russian intelligence services, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced on X.
Estonian authorities view the fire as part of a broader Russian campaign in Europe aimed at intimidating European countries and weakening their support for Ukraine, Tsahkna said.
On 29 September, Estonia’s Foreign Ministry summoned Russia’s chargé d'affaires, Lenar Salimullin. The Kremlin rejected the accusations as "unfounded”.
The fire broke out overnight on 15 August on Betooni Street in Tallinn, the Estonian capital. It was quickly extinguished, and no one was injured. Three Latvian citizens were detained in connection with the case, according to Delfi.
Milrem Robotics makes unmanned ground vehicles for military use. Ukraine's armed forces use its THeMIS vehicles.
