Estonian authorities have fined dissident Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko €100 for throwing eggs at the building of the Russian embassy in Tallinn.

“Today, I was fined €100. So the whole thing cost me €140 because I had bought four eggs for €10 each,” Babchenko himself said, adding that he was charged with causing public nuisance.

The exiled journalist said in a Facebook post that he intends to pay the fine and will abstain from “throwing trash out in places that were not designed for that”, ending his message with a call to the Russian embassy to “f**k off”.

Late July, Estonian police reported detaining a man who had thrown eggs at the Russian embassy in Tallinn. Shortly thereafter, Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko, who left Russia in 2017, wrote on his Facebook page that he was the man in question.
