Ukraine repatriates bodies of 44 killed service members

Bodies of 44 killed Ukrainian service members have been returned home from the country’s occupied territories, the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories reports.

The bodies will be identified and then handed over to relatives for burials. It is noted that the body repatriation procedure is conducted in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.

On 14 July, Russia brought back 160 bodies of service members who died in Ukraine, Russian lawmaker Shamsail Saraliev said.

Later that day, Ukrainian commissioner for missing persons Oleh Kotenko announced that bodies of 62 Ukrainian soldiers had been returned from the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia.
