In the early hours of 26 May, the Russian forces carried out a missile attack and an attack using Shahed drones on Ukraine, the Ukrainian General Staff’s bulletin indicates.
The number of people injured in the Russian attack on a residential quarter in the city of Dnipro has gone up to 30, two children among them, the head of the regional administration Serhiy Lysak says. Two people were killed in the attack.
“A medical building, a vet clinic, and multi-storey buildings around. <…> We still haven’t been able to contact three people that could have been here [at the moment of the attack],” he has updated the public.
Tomorrow is declared the day of mourning for the victims, Mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov has announced.
The Kyiv city military administration reports that the capital was shelled by Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS strategic bombers. The authorities say that they managed to shoot down the targets in the Kyiv airspace.
The roof of a mall was destroyed and several parked cars were damaged in the Obolonskyi district of the city following the missile debris falling down. In the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, debris fell down on a private house, damaging the roof and a window.

The head of the Dnipro regional military administration Serhiy Lysak says that one person was injured as a result of shelling.
“A gas station was damaged. Its employee was hurt. He was provided medical care — he’s gonna be healing at home,” Lysak clarifies.
According to him, the attack also led to fires in two private houses and two factories. Serious damage was inflicted on the building of the city’s transport company.
The city of Dnipro was shelled again in the afternoon.
According to Lysak, a shell hit a medical building. There are casualties. Following the attack, two buildings caught fire, the fire area is 500 square metres.
The number of injured has increased to 23, 21 of them have been hospitalised, with three people being in critical condition. Two people have been killed in the attack. One of them is a 69-year-old man who was walking near the hospital at the moment of the attack.
Lysak previously clarified that there were two children among the injured: two boys, 3 and 6, have been hospitalised, their condition is moderate.

“The enemy never stopped taunting the Nikopol area either. They shelled the Marhanets community using UAVs. Luckily, there were no casualties,” the local government reports.
The Ukrainian Air Force states that launches of 17 missiles of different types and 31 attack drones were recorded in total. The air defence shot down 10 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles, 23 Shahed-136/131 attack drones, and two operational and tactical UAVs, Orlan-10 and Merlin-BP.
Yesterday, 25 May, Russia attacked Kyiv with drones for the 12th time since the beginning of May. Ukraine’s air defence shot down all air targets.
