Russian ministry places ICC prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan on wanted list

The Russian Interior Ministry has issued an arrest warrant for Karim Ahmad Khan, prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) located in The Hague, Mediazona reports.

It is not clear what Khan is charged with. However, the Russian Investigative Committee said in late March that a criminal case would be launched against the prosecutor for launching criminal proceedings against an innocent person.

“The criminal prosecution is completely illegal because there are no grounds to invoke criminal liability,” the agency said at the time.

Apart from the prosecutor, judges Tomoko Akane, Rosario Salvatore Aitala, and Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godínez are facing criminal cases in Russia after they issued ICC arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and commissioner for children’s rights Maria Lvova-Belova.

The judges are charged with deliberately illegal imprisonment and preparations for an attack on a foreign country representative who enjoy international protection in order to complicate international relations.
