Russian forces carry out massive shelling of Ukraine, targeting Ukrainian Eurovision entry band’s hometown Ternopil

In the early hours of 14 May, Russian forces carried out a massive shelling of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force Command reports.

Russia’s Defence Ministry has confirmed the strikes on the city of Ternopil and the Dnipro region village of Petropavlivka.

According to the Russian ministry, the targets were the points of “dislocation of Ukraine’s Armed Forces and storage sites of weapons [provided by] Western countries”. The ministry claims that all targets were hit.

According to their information, three cruise missiles and 25 drones were destroyed in the attack.

Two people were injured in the shelling of the Ternopil region. According to the local military administration, two private houses were destroyed completely, while 12 private houses, civilian shopping and commercial facilities, and nine trucks were damaged. It was later clarified that the shelling took place at the exact moment of Ternopil’s band TVORCHI’s performance on Eurovision.

Attacks were also recorded in the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, Luhansk, and Dnipro regions.

A 64-year-old man was hurt in the attack on the frontline city Hulyaipole, Zaporizhzia region. He was evacuated to the regional centre for treatment, the local military administration reported.
