Man killed by shelling in Belgorod region’s Shebekino

A local resident was killed in the shelling of Shebekino, Russia’s Belgorod region, local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov says.

The man suffered a mortar head wound and died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.

“We had two hits on the outskirts of the city, to private plots of land. No other damage was recorded,” Gladkov wrote.

Five people were injured in the shelling of Shebekino yesterday. According to Gladkov, the city was shelled several times. After the first attack, “luckily there were no casualties or damages”.

The second time, one of the shells blew up near three multi-storey buildings.

“Five civilians were injured, two of them refused hospitalisation, three were brought to the district hospital. All of them have light stab wounds. All of them were provided necessary medical help and sent home for outpatient treatment,” Gladkov said.

On 6 May, after the shelling of downtown Shebekino, local authorities recommended that enterprises suspend work from 7 to 9 May.
