Five people injured in shelling of Shebekino city in Russia’s Belgorod region

Five people have been injured in shelling of the city of Shebekino, Russia’s Belgorod region, local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reports.

According to him, the city was shelled several times. After the first attack, “luckily there were no casualties or damages”.

The second time, one of the shells blew up near three multi-storey buildings.

“Five civilians were injured, two of them refused hospitalisation, three were brought to the district hospital. All of them have light stab wounds. All of them were provided necessary medical help and sent home for outpatient treatment,” Gladkov said.

He added that another shell blew up near a different multi-storey building. Following the explosion, the façade and roofing were damaged, while windows were shattered.

On 6 May, after the centre of Shebekino was shelled, the authorities recommended local businesses to halt operations from 7 to 9 May.
