Ukraine’s Zelensky to take part in G20 summit — spokesperson

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will take part in the upcoming G20 summit in Indonesia, spokesperson for the president Serhiy Nykyforov told the Suspilne news outlet.

According to Nykyforov, Zelensky is most likely to attend the event online.

Earlier today, Russia’s Vedomosti newspaper reported citing its sources that Russian President Vladimir Putin was unlikely to travel to Indonesia for the G20 summit. The newspaper added that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov could head to Indonesia instead.

Zelensky last week said that he would not attend the summit if Putin was to be there in person.

“My personal position and that of Ukraine is that if the leader of the Russian Federation participates, [then] Ukraine will not participate,” the Ukrainian president said. At the same time, he added that Kyiv was preparing for the event.

The G20 summit will take place in Bali, Indonesia on 15-16 November.
