Donetsk: shelling leads to a fire in building of railway administration

In the early hours of 7 November, several blasts rocked the centre of the city of Donetsk; following the shelling, a big fire erupted in the railway administration building, several shells also went off in the administration area of the Voroshylovskyi district of the city, Russia’s state news agency TASS reports.

According to emergency services, there are no casualties, Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti adds.

Russia-appointed Mayor of Donetsk Alexey Kulemzin claims that the shelling was conducted by Ukraine’s Armed Forces. He also writes that three shells were launched from a HIMARS system at the building. According to the information provided by the representative office of the self-proclaimed “DPR” in the Joint Centre on Control and Coordination, six 155mm shells were used to strike the centre of the city.

According to the “Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Donetsk People’s Republic”, the fire had been extinguished by 9AM.

On 31 October, the occupation “government” of Donetsk also reported shelling of the city. A private building was damaged, while windows were blown out in a preschool institution. A 87-year-old woman was injured in the attack, representatives of the pro-Russian territorial defence headquarters of the self-proclaimed Donetsk “people’s republic” said back then. She was hospitalised.
