Woman killed in strike on Russia’s Belgorod region

A 74-year-old woman was killed in an attack on the city of Shebekino in Russia’s Belgorod region, governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported.

According to the regional governor, the woman died of shrapnel wounds.

Three residential buildings were damaged in the attack. The district head and emergency services have arrived on the scene, Gladkov said.

The village of Konoplyanovka also came under attack. “Our air defence systems worked, but the Tochka-U [ballistic missile] cluster munitions were deployed and hit a residential building. The residents have not been injured,” the governor stated.

According to Gladkov, Russia’s Belgorod region is being shelled almost every day. In September, all schools along the 10-kilometre area on the border with Ukraine switched to online learning. The last time the regional officials reported casualties in the shelling was on 3 October: a woman was killed in an attack on the Golovchino village.
