Azerbaijan’s defence ministry: 71 soldiers killed since fighting broke out on border with Armenia

A total of 71 Azerbaijani soldiers were killed in the clashes on the border with Armenia, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

The list of servicemen killed in the hostilities includes the names of 13 officers, 21 ensigns and sergeants, as well as 37 soldiers.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that a total of 105 Armenian servicemen had been killed in the attacks by Azerbaijan.

Today, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan announced that Yerevan and Baku had agreed on a ceasefire from 20:00 14 September. The parties have not signed any official documents yet. Azerbaijan did not officially confirm the ceasefire.

In the early hours of September 13, the Armenian Ministry of Defence reported an Azerbaijan-conducted shelling of Armenia’s territory not far from the unrecognised territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. In turn, Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry released a statement accusing Yerevan of a “large-scale military provocation”.
