“I took a course in denazification”: Kherson residents forced to ‘apologise’ on camera

One of the pro-Russian Telegram channels has posted a video of a woman from Kherson “apologising” on camera for speaking ill of Russian soldiers, reports Andrey Zakharov of BBC Russia.

In the video, a young woman reads aloud a text where she mentions she “had completed a course on denazification'', apologises for insulting the Russian army and calls her husband, who wished death upon the Russian soldiers in his texts, to penance.

“I spoke ill of the Russian soldiers, calling them “orcs”. I admit… I admit that I am guilty and wrong. I have completed a course on denazification… I apologise before the Russian citizens,” she says in a stuttering manner.

Similar videos were posted in other Telegram channels. “I regret posting anti-Russian materials, I apologise for posting the insulting things,” says a shirtless man. Another video shows a man apologising for raising money to buy thermal cameras for the Ukrainian army.

Kherson has been under de-facto Russian occupation since 2 March. The pro-Russian occupying authorities broadcast Russian TV channels and use the Russian ruble as currency. The entire territory of the Kherson region has been under full Russian control since 26 April. The Russian occupation forces have appointed former mayor of Kherson Volodymyr Saldo as the region’s head and Oleksandr Kobets as mayor.
