One civilian killed in shelling of Russia’s Kursk region

One civilian was killed by a Ukrainian shell in the locality of Tyotkino in the Kursk region of Russia, says Roman Starovoyt, the local governor.

“Tytkino was attacked at dawn by the enemy, unfortunately, killing at least one person,” he said.

The local distillery was under attack. A truck driver who was delivering cargo to the facility was killed. Several more people were injured, and several residential buildings were damaged; the local emergency services are now trying to contain the fire, adds Starovoyt.

The Kursk governor also reported a shelling in his region yesterday, with no casualties or damage: “It would appear that our enemy was targeting a newly renovated cell tower. The fire from our body guards and army units prevented the attack,” Starovoyt wrote.

Since the start of the Ukraine War, the Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, as well as governors of other Russian regions bordering Ukraine, have repeatedly reported attacks on their territory. On 11 May, one person was killed and seven were injured in the attack on the settlement of Solokhi in the Belgorod region.
