Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the price of car parts in Russia has risen by 30% on average, the Kommersant newspaper reports.
According to the paper, there is a deficit of bumpers, windows and headlights in Russia, which is why the prices of these parts have risen six times the recommended level. There is also a problem with the supply of car electronics.
“The price of front and back bumpers has risen the most: by 34% and 32% respectively, followed by headlamps (32%), fenders (31%), front doors (30%), hoods, back doors and grills (29%). The price of windows has risen the least, by 26%,” Kommersant reports.
Alexey Gulyaev, deputy general director at Avilon Service, told the paper that the car parts stored in warehouses would buy the company another two to four months. He added that there is an acute deficit of auto parts for new or unique car models.
About 30 to 35% of car centres are reporting a lack of engine parts, shock absorbers and suspension parts, electronics and consumables, including motor oil, filtres and spark plugs, head of Fresh Auto service Ilya Ivansky said.
“The car parts were affected by EU sanctions, and the only available supply path from Asia is the railway. It became impossible to deliver the parts to Russian car factories or to supply auto services,” Ivansky added.
Earlier, Renault, Volvo Truck, BMW, Scania и Hyundai car manufacturers suspended production in Russia. General Motors and Land Rover also suspended operations in the country.
