Luna superyacht seized in Germany, allegedly belongs to Russian oligarch Akhmedov

A 115 m long superyacht Luna worth at least €400 million has been seized in Hamburg by the German authorities.

The local police identified the owner. It is stated that the yacht belongs to Farkhad Akhmedov, a Russian oligarch currently under EU sanctions, reports Die Süddeutsche Zeitung.

The yacht has nine decks and a swimming pool. It belonged to Roman Abramovich until 2014.

Luna is the second Russian yacht detained in the port of Hamburg. Dilbar, a vessel attributed to the sister of Alisher Usmanov, another Russian billionaire, was seized by the German Federal Police in April. Dilbar is worth up to €800 million. Usmanov’s property at Tegernsee was also arrested.

The European Union started confiscating the possessions of Russian oligarchs who had ties with Vladimir Putin and were on the list of sanctioned individuals after the Ukraine war started.

On 7 May, Italy’s Ministry of Economy and Finance reported impounding a luxury 140 m long yacht called Scheherazade worth some $700 million that has been linked to Vladimir Putin by the Anti-Corruption Foundation, an organisation founded by Alexey Navalny.
