Ukrainian official announces new prisoner swap with Russia

Russia and Ukraine have successfully held another prisoner swap, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said on Facebook.

According to her, 41 people returned to Ukraine, including 28 military officers and 13 civilians. Vereshchuk added that 11 women had returned to Ukraine.

Last week, Vereshchuk reported that Russia had attempted to swap Ukrainian civilians for Russian servicemen, which is prohibited by the Geneva Conventions. She noted that her office, which is in charge of prisoner swap talks, had refused such an exchange and demanded that Russia return all captured Ukrainian civilians.
