At least 26 Russian servicemen killed since the start of the war in Ukraine were buried at a cemetery in Russia’s Krasnodar, local news outlet 93.RU reports.
Reporters found an area of the cemetery where military officers were buried with a total of 55 graves. There is a separate row for those who died in 2022.
Six out of 26 servicemen killed since the start of the war in Ukraine were born in the 1950s-1960s, and several were born in the 1930s-1940s, the news outlet said. Eleven servicemen born in the 1970s-2000s are also buried at this cemetery.
According to reporters, there are portraits of men in military uniform or carrying arms on the majority of graves. Fresh flowers and wreaths from the Russian Defence Ministry are laid by the graves. Three of the graves have flags of the Russian Airborne Troops and the Russian Navy. There are also ribbons saying “From Fellow Officers,” “Donbass,” “To the Senior Lieutenant,” “From the Administration of Prikubansky District.” There are many wreaths with a five-pointed star, 93.RU informs.
An employee of the cemetery told reporters that a young military officer was buried here as recently as April 30.
