This article introduces a penalty of up to 5 years in prison for repeated violations of public assembly rules.
A search was conducted at Ukraintsev's house on Monday morning. The labour union reported that lawyers and journalists were not allowed into the apartment during the search. Ukraintsev’s PC, laptop and phones were confiscated. After the search, he was escorted to meet the detectives.
“Food delivery couriers had their wages cut recently, so we had to protest against this. We have no doubt that Ukraintsev was detained to spoil our protest,” the trade union said in their statement.
Ukraintsev might also be accused of allegedly setting up a rally of taxi drivers in Russia’s Sergiev Posad, the union believes.
A Moscow court detained Ukraintsev for 10 days in September 2021 for organising a rally. The reason behind the case was Ukraintsev’s Instagram post supporting Azat Miftakhov, a mathematician convicted for acts of hooliganism against the United Russia ruling party
