A series of explosions in Transnistria has been followed by the local security council announcing ‘red terrorist alert’, according to TSV Pridnestrovye.
This alert will be valid for 15 days, introducing "additional measures to ensure the security of the people, the society and the state." Checkpoints will be set up at the entrance to the cities, and schools will be using distance learning until the end of the academic year. The Victory Day military display scheduled for 9 May was also cancelled.
Vadim Krasnoselsky, the head of Transnistria, a self-proclaimed pro-Russian breakaway state internationally recognized as part of Moldova, reported three recent terror attacks. Those aimed at the building of the State Security Ministry in Tiraspol, a military base near the locality of Parkany and two TV/radio towers near the locality of Mayak. The local security agencies are already investigating the matter.
There were two explosions in the locality of Mayak this morning at 6.40 and 7.05 local time. Moreover, multiple explosions targeted the republic’s State Security Ministry yesterday. Powerful blasts were heard in the area, according to a RIA Novosti reporter, and the windows of the neighbouring houses were smashed.
