At least 300 Russian officers have died in Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion into the country, reports Mediazona.
The independent media outlet has analysed social media activity and regional media reports, as well as official statements. A total of 1744 posts related to the deaths of professional combatants were found, including no less than 500 soldiers best fit for combat such as marines or spec ops. Paratroopers from Pskov and Kostroma also suffered heavy losses.
Also, at least 70 combatants of the Russian National Guard, no less than 20 pilots and more than 300 army officers, including two brigadiers and the deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet, were killed in Ukraine.
Russia’s Defence Ministry has only reported losses twice, on 2 March and 25 March. The latest statement revealed that 1,351 Russian servicemen had died in Ukraine since 24 February, while 3,825 combatants were injured.
