The Russian Defense Ministry has acknowledged that one crew member died and 27 others are missing in action as a result of the cruiser Moskva crash.
The Ministry assured that the remaining crew (396 men) were evacuated from the cruiser to the ships of the Black Sea Fleet located in the area. All of them, as the Russian Defense Ministry claims, were taken to Sevastopol.
‘According to the results of an interrogation of the command of the Black Sea Fleet and the members of the crew, the absolute majority of officers, midshipmen and sailors of the contract service expressed a desire to continue their service on the ships of the Black Sea Fleet,’ the Ministry said.
The military personnel who wanted to serve in other garrisons were promised to be transferred to ships of other fleets and those conscripts to be discharged after expiration of their terms of service.
