Russia has initiated criminal proceedings against Ilya Krasilshchik, the ex-publisher of Meduza, an independent Russian media outlet, for spreading «fake news» about the Russian army, according to Baza. Krasilshchik, however, did not receive any official notice.
Baza claims that Krasilshchik’s Instagram post about the Bucha massacre is the offence in question. He left Russia earlier and is now facing up to 3 years of imprisonment should he return.
«Let them rot in hell. I wasn’t looking forward to returning to Russia anyway. The Last Judgement awaits them, we’ve collected enough evidence. The rest is nothing», he wrote on his Telegram.
Krasilshchik also noted that he is no longer working for Yandex, where he previously managed the food delivery service.
Another criminal procedure was initiated today against Vladimir Kara-Murza, politician and journalist, who is now serving his 15-day detention for disobeying a police order. He is also accused of «spreading fake news about the army», but further details are unknown.
