Match Group, the owner of dating app Tinder, has announced it would leave Russia with a deadline on 30 June, the company’s annual report says.
“We are committed to protecting human rights. Our brands are taking steps to restrict access to their services in Russia and will complete their withdrawal from the Russian market by 30 June 2023,” the statement says.
Match Group also owns dating apps Hinge and PlentyOfFish.
IStories wrote that only 20% of companies with owners from “unfriendly” countries have left Russia after the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Financial Times also wrote that about 2,000 applications foreign companies filed applications with the Russian commission on foreign investments so as to withdraw from the country.
“The commission meets three times a month and considers not more than seven applications per meeting — so you can do the maths,” the FT’s source said.
