A court in Russia’s Novosibirsk region has sentenced Sergey Mamontov, a local MP from the United Russia party, to 10 months of community service for running over a 6-year-old child with his car and leaving the scene of crime, TASS cites the local court department.
Mamontov was found guilty of leaving a person in mortal danger. The man’s defence requested a fine, while the prosecutor demanded community service.
The incident happened on 30 October 2022. CCTV footage shows that Mamontov ran over a child with his car, got out of the vehicle, looked at the boy, and left the location. The United Russia party promised to exclude the man from their ranks with “dishonour”.
