EU adopts 10th sanction package against Russia

The European Union has officially adopted the 10th sanction package intended to punish Russia for its aggression against Ukraine, top EU diplomat Josep Borrell tweeted.

Brussels blacklisted 121 individuals and legal entities, he added.

The EU imposed “significant new import/export restrictions” and banned “Russian propaganda outlets”, Borrell stressed.

“We remain united in our determination to dent Russia’s war machine,” the chief EU diplomat noted.

He also underlined that sanctions are imposed against those “responsible for the deportation and forced adoption of at least 6,000 Ukrainian children”. “This is a clear violation of international law, including the Geneva convention,” Borrell added.

update

Per earlier reports, the latest sanction package includes tougher export restrictions on dual-purpose goods and technologies, measures against “Russian disinformation” as well as sanctions against people and companies who support Russia’s war on Ukraine, spread disinformation, and supply drones to Moscow.

Earlier, the US, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada imposed new sanctions against Moscow. Moreover, Washington is setting a 200% tariff on aluminum imports from Russia.
