Russian MoD: draftees to lose benefits if mobilisation decree cancelled

If the mobilisation decree is cancelled before the end of the “special military operation”, draftees will lose their social benefits and monetary compensations, Russia’s Defence Ministry said in its response to an inquiry by Artur Gayduk, a Pskov regional MP from the Yabloko party.

“The status of the mobilised citizens and the monetary allowance will not correspond to the status and monetary allowance of contracted military personnel,” the message says.

Gayduk adressed Vladimir Putin earlier, suggesting that the “partial mobilisation” decree be denounced. He was told by the presidential administration that the decree was still valid.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov also stated that some regulations of the mobilisation decree were still active, however, the draft of people for military service was over, he claimed.

Sergey Shoigu, Russia’s Defence Minister, briefed Vladimir Putin on the end of “partial mobilisation” in Russia on 28 October 2022. “The target quota of 300,000 people has been reached; no other mobilisation targets are planned,” he said.

Vladimir Putin announced the end of “partial” mobilisation in the country three days later, however, there was no decree declaring this. Peskov stated that there was “no need” in such a document.
