Russia’s Rostov region governor announces detention of shooter who fired at policemen in Novoshakhtinsk

The man who had opened fire at policemen in the Russian city of Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov region, yesterday has been detained, the governor of the region Vasiliy Golubev says.

“The criminal has been detained. Following coordinated operational-search activities, he was found in an abandoned building near Novoshakhtinsk. An investigation is being conducted,” he reports.

Yesterday, 6 December, a man wearing camouflage fired at policemen. One of the law enforcement agents was wounded, he was hospitalised.

According to Telegram channel Baza, the man, who could be a deserter, began shooting when he saw the policemen. Kindergartens were closed in the city. The exit from the city was blocked. The city residents were asked to stay inside and pay attention to their surroundings.
