Explosion goes off near Interior Ministry building in Turkish capital Ankara

An explosion went off in Turkey’s capital city Ankara near an Interior Ministry building, local news outlet Haber Ankara reported on Sunday.

CNN Türk later reported that presidential security officers had arrived at the building.

Ali Yerlikaya, the country’s Interior Minister, reported later on Sunday that two men approached the entrance of the building in a vehicle before one of them detonated a bomb. Two police officers were injured in a shootout that followed.

An explosion went off in Turkey’s port of Derince on 7 August, injuring ten people.
