The war in Ukraine has been raging for 534 days. The number of injured following the Russian attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia went up to 16; one woman was killed in the attack. A big fire erupted at a warehouse in the Moscow region’s city of Odintsovo. The Luna-25 lander was launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, marking it as the first moon mission in the history of modern Russia.

Big fire erupts in Moscow region’s Odintsovo
A large fire erupted at a warehouse in the Moscow region city of Odintsovo, Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reports. The area of the fire amounted to 2,000 square metres, no injuries were reported, per official data.

According to Telegram channel Baza, the fire started at a beer products warehouse, with a local guard getting injured after jumping from the second floor. The fire area is reportedly 2,800 square metres. Telegram channel Mash clarifies that, according to initial reports, a construction site was on fire.
In the early hours of 10 August, the Russian authorities reported shooting down two drones on approach to Moscow, one of them was downed over the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. Odintsovo is located some 20 km away from Moscow.
Number of injured following Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia goes up to 16
A children’s camp that kids between the ages of 6 and 13 go to during the day was located in the Reikartz Zaporizhzhia hotel destroyed in a Russian missile strike on the city of Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine’s Defence Ministry reports.
The camp’s working hours ended only an hour before the attack, with parents able to pick up their kids in time.

The number of injured following the attack went up to 16, four among them are children, the head of the regional military administration Yury Malashko says. One person was killed. The Ukrainian police note that the Russian army carried out the attack using the cruise missile Iskander-K.
The UN humanitarian coordinator in Ukraine Denise Brown says that the UN employees previously stayed in that hotel and emphasises that it was the UN base for evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol in May 2022.
Luna-25 lander launched from Vostochny Cosmodrome
Russia’s first moon probe this century was launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, as per the Russian space agency Roscosmos.

The launch of the Luna-25 lander is the first lunar mission in the history of modern Russia. It’s expected to land on the Moon on 21 August.
The spacecraft is supposed to become the first ever to land on the lunar south pole. The main goal of the mission is to conduct contact studies on the lunar soil to see whether it has ice in it. The lander is planned to stay on the Moon for a year.
The previous Luna-24 mission was launched in 1976 and returned to the Earth carrying 170 grams of lunar soil.
