Ukrainian authorities order mandatory evacuation from Kharkiv region’s Kupyansk district

Ukraine’s local authorities have announced mandatory evacuations from the de-occupied territories of the Kupyansk district, Kharkiv region, the Kupyansk military administration said.

The evacuations will begin from the settlements located near the active battle zone. The city of Kupyansk will also be partially evacuated.

On 9 August, head of the Kharkiv region administration Oleh Syniehubov said that the mandatory evacuation push can begin in 53 settlements and towns.

He noted that Russia had “visibly increased shelling of settlements located close to the frontline and continues terrorising civilians, particularly with aviation strikes”. “In these conditions, risks for the lives and health of civilians have increased dramatically,” Syniehubov stressed.

The governor’s calculations show that more than 11,000 people, including 600 children, are to be evacuated.

On 6 August, two people were killed, four more were injured in shelling of the village of Kruhlyakivka, Kharkiv region’s Kupyansk district.

On 7 August, two people were killed in shelling of the Kharkiv region, eight more were injured, four of them had to be rushed to hospital.

The village of Kozacha Lopan, Kharkiv region, was attacked on 8 August. Two men were injured and taken to hospital.
