The fighters of Chechnya’s Akhmat special forces unit are returning to the “zone of the special military operation” in Ukraine, the commander of the unit Apti Alaudinov said, as quoted by Chechen state TV and radio company Grozny.
“We’ve now received an order to go back to our combat positions, where the enemy awaits us,” Alaudinov said.
He thanked the fighters for being ready to defend Russia. “Our unit is made up of fighters of all nationalities, who live in our country and beyond. [They’re from all over] the Soviet Union. But all of you are one family, a backbone, ready to strike against the enemy of our state at any time,” he proclaimed.
The Akhmat fighters and members of the 78th Special Motorised Regiment North-Akhmat were deployed to the city of Rostov-on-Don Saturday morning to “conduct a counter terrorism operation against the participants of the rebellion” carried out by the chief of PMC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin.
