Russia updates its foreign agent list

Russia’s foreign agent list has been updated to include politician Lev Shlosberg, the Free Yakutia Foundation, as well as journalist Svetlana Prokopyeva, the Russian Justice Ministry reports.

Moreover, film director Vitaly Msnsky, journalist Yulia Paramonova, economist Sergey Aleksashenko, and the VESMA information portal have also been branded as foreign agents.

The ministry’s statement notes that the newly designated “foreign agents” took part in the creation or dissemination of materials by other “foreign agents”. Moreover, the agency believes that Aleksashenko, Shlosberg, VESMA, and the Free Yakutia Foundation promoted “false information” about the decisions made by the Russian authorities.

The ministry last updated its foreign agent register on 2 June.
