Media: Save Ukraine foundation employee, who was planning to evacuate Ukrainian orphans, detained in Moscow

A Ukrainian citizen who wanted to evacuate orphaned Ukrainian children from Russia-occupied regions abroad has been detained in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports, citing a law enforcement source.

“A Ukrainian citizen was detained in Moscow after she arrived in Russia to transfer orphaned children out of the liberated territories as ordered by the Save Ukraine foundation (works with the Ukrainian Security Service),” the source said.

Save Ukraine is a Ukrainian foundation that evacuates people and provides humanitarian aid to families and children in the active combat zone. The foundation also transfers children stuck in Russia-occupied territories of Ukraine.

Earlier, an independent team of activists backed by Novaya-Europe and Greenhouse of Social Technologies launched Kidmapping, a project that tracks children who were deported from Ukraine.

Kidmapping also works with humanitarian organisations who later bring these kids home. The project is based around an interactive map that contains information vital to find the children.
