Ukraine’s General Staff reports downing Russian Su-35 fighter jet

The Command of Ukrainian Air Force has reported taking down a Russian Su-35 fighter jet, the Command’s Facebook page says.

“In the late hours of 21 May, a Russian Su-35 fighter jet suffered ‘negative takeoff’ over Ukraine’s territorial waters in the Kherson region! The circumstances are being clarified,” reads the statement.

The downing of the plane has also been confirmed by Ukraine’s General Staff.

Local military spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk reported the plane being taken down by air defence earlier; he later deleted his post.

Russia attacked the Dnipro region overnight, injuring eight people.

Ukraine’s General Staff has also reported that four Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and 20 Shahed drones had been destroyed.
