Russia executed a missile strike against Ukraine overnight, using 6 Kinzhal, 9 Calibre, and three ground-based (Iskander-M and S-400) missiles, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Valeri Zaluzhnyi reports.
Zaluzhnyi says Russia’s military attacked Ukraine at around 03:30 local time from the north, south, and east with 18 missiles of various types, air-, sea-, and ground-based ones.
“Out of six MiG-31K aircraft, six X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, 9 Caliber cruise missiles from ships in the Black Sea and three ground-based missiles (S-400, Iskander-M) were fired,” Zaluzhnyi says. “All 18 missiles were destroyed by the air defence of Ukraine’s Air Force,” he reports.
On top of that Russia’s military also used Shahed-136/131 attack drones, and three reconnaissance drones: Orlan-10 and SuperCam ones. Ukraine’s air defence also downed those, Zaluzhnyi added.
The Russian military attacked Kyiv with missiles and UAVs overnight. Preliminary data says three people were injured, the local administration and mayor Vitali Klitschko report.
This has been the eighth aerial attack on the Ukrainian capital this May. “It was very special due to its intensity as so many missile strikes were executed in a very short span of time,” the Kyiv administration says in a statement.
