France to provide Ukraine with dozens of armoured vehicles and AMX-10RC tanks

Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, and Volodymyr Zelensky, the leader of Ukraine, have had a meeting in Paris and issued a joint statement.

“The military support provided by France since the start of the war that aims to enable Ukraine to defend itself is continuing, and new deliveries are being prepared, permanently taking into account Ukraine’s most urgent and immediate needs in strengthening its defence capabilities,” the statement says.

Macron has promised that France will provide several Ukrainian battalions with dozens of armoured fighting vehicles and light tanks, including AMX-10RCs.

France has also vowed to continue providing political, financial, humanitarian and military support to Ukraine while it is necessary. The two countries have stated that they “agree on the need to increase our collective pressure on Russia through new sanctions in order to weaken that country’s ability to continue its unlawful war of aggression.”

The meeting took place late in the evening yesterday.

The visit of Ukraine’s president was only announced a few hours prior to the arrival out of safety concerns. Previously, Zelensky visited Rome (where he met the Italian PM, president, and the Pope), and Berlin.
