Russia’s Defence Ministry reports deaths of two commanders

Russia’s Defence Ministry has announced the death of two commanders, a brigade commander and a deputy arms corps commander, as per the ministry’s statement.

According to the ministry, the Commander of the 4th Motorised Rifle Brigade Colonel Vyacheslav Makarov was leading the battle near the Sontsivka village, Donetsk region. He was “seriously wounded and died while being evacuated from the battlefield”.

Deputy Army Corps Commander for Military and Political Work Colonel Yevgeny Brovko was killed during a battle to repel an attack in the city of Bakhmut. However, according to the Russian ministry, despite the “mass attempts to break the defence of Bakhmut”, all attacks of Ukraine’s Armed Forces in this direction were repelled.

The Defence Ministry has also confirmed the overnight strikes on the city of Ternopil and the Dnipro region village of Petropavlivka.

According to the Russian ministry, the targets were the points of “dislocation of Ukraine’s Armed Forces and the depots of Western munitions”. According to the statement, “the goal of the attack has been reached. All the assigned targets have been neutralised.”
