Russian man who returned from fighting in Ukraine arrested for sexual assault on stepdaughter

A court in Russia’s Oryol region has arrested a 36-year-old man, who recently returned from the war in Ukraine, on criminal charges of sexual assault, human rights project Trauma Law reports.

According to the investigation, the man, while drunk, tried to assault his 10-year-old stepdaughter in March. His wife began to defend the girl and then called the police. The criminal case was initiated on the same day, Trauma Law clarified to Novaya-Europe.

The woman said that her husband was fighting in Ukraine from August to November 2022. According to her, after returning home he began drinking too much and acting aggressively towards his family members.

The punishment under the article is from 12 to 20 years behind bars.
