Authorities of annexed Crimea: air defence shot down missile launched from Ukraine

The Russia-appointed authorities of annexed Crimea have reported that the air defence systems were activated in the town of Feodosia, as per Oleg Kryuchkov, the Information Policy Adviser to the Head of Crimea.

“Air defence systems were activated in the Feodosia district. The information is being verified,” he wrote in a Telegram post.

Later, Governor of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said that “a missile was shot down [in the airspace of] Feodosia, it was launched from Ukraine”.

According to Aksyonov, the missile debris fell on the territory of Crimea. “There are no victims or damage done,” he wrote in a post. The post was later deleted.

Local Telegram channels report that residents heard several explosions. Telegram channel CHP Crimea posted a photo showing smoke.

On 21 March, a municipal level state of emergency was announced in the town of Dzhankoi in the north of Crimea after an overnight drone attack. The authorities of the annexed peninsula said that a 33-year-old man had been injured and a private building and a shop had been damaged in the drone attack. Kryuchkov claimed that all the drones had been targeting civilian facilities.
