Russian court issues arrest warrant for YouTuber Maxim Katz

A court in Moscow has issued an arrest warrant for Maxim Katz, a YouTuber and politician, over “fake news about military” charges, Mediazona cites the court’s website.

Katz was put on Russia’s wanted list on 29 September. He is safe abroad and said in September that he was accused of “spreading fakes about the Russian army” and became aware of a criminal procedure against him several months prior to that. “It was amusing how I found out about it. I requested an official statement that I had no criminal record, but it turned out I had,” the politician says.

Katz was added to the list of “foreign agents”, compiled by Russia’s Ministry of Justice, in July, accused of being sponsored by Ukraine.
