Update

11:50 UTC A total of 18 people are reported injured so far, says Anatoliy Kurtev, a local official. The injured include two children, aged 7 and 9. A total of 11 adults have been admitted to hospital, four of them are in critical condition. Two 9-storey apartment blocks were attacked, Kurtev says.

13:37 UTC Update from Kurtev: one person died following the attack; a total of 25 people are in hospitals, three of them in critical condition.

Andriy Yermak, the head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, has also reported on the attack.

Zelensky himself also posted a video of a missile hitting the apartment block.

“Right now, a Russian missile hit a multi-storey building. Russia is shelling the city with bestial savagery. Residential areas where ordinary people and children live are being fired at. The terrorist state seeks to destroy our cities, our state, our people. This must not become “just another day” in Ukraine or anywhere else in Europe or the world. The world needs greater unity and determination to defeat Russian terror faster and protect lives,” he wrote on Telegram.

Vladimir Rogov, the Russia-installed “governor” of the Zaporizhzhia region, claims that Ukraine’s air defence caused the missile hit.

No data on casualties is available so far. More details will follow.
